Kaur’s words flow like milk and honey

October 3, 2016

The book Milk and Honey,  written by Rupi Kaur, is a collection of poems divided into four chapters: the hurting, the loving, the breaking, and the healing. Each chapter serves a different purpose. This books takes the most horrible moments in life and finds greatness in them.

I have never been the type to love poetry. The only time I would read poetry was in English class. One of my friends kept talking about how amazing Milk and Honey was so I decided to buy it myself and see what the big deal was. While I was reading it, I could feel all the emotions that the author felt. She wrote this book in a way that was raw, heartfelt, and real.

The thing that is unique about this book is the format. She drew illustrations that related to the poems for almost all of them. What was even more unique was instead of having the titles of the poem above it, the author put them below.

I absolutely enjoyed this book. It has so much meaning and shows how hectic life can get sometimes. The author is such a fantastic writer and I highly recommend adding this book to your reading list.
