Do it yourself costumes to make your Halloween spooktacular
It’s that time of year again to be thinking about what you want to dress up for on Halloween. If you’re one who procrastinates until it’s the night before, these cheap, easy, and quick Halloween costume DIYs will be very helpful to you.
Robber: You’re staring at all the clothes in your closet wondering what you are going to dress up as. You suddenly see a black and white striped shirt and you think “A robber!” All you need for this costume is a black and white striped shirt, a pair of black jeans or leggings, black shoes, black gloves, and a black beanie. You could even add a black mask you can make out of felt. After you put all this together, you’re ready to go rob a bank…I mean trick or treat.
Strawberry/Pineapple: If you and your best friend want a matching costume, this strawberry and pineapple costume is simple and cute. For the strawberry, get a large hot pink or red tee shirt and use either white felt or puffy paint to create the seeds. Make the seeds in the shape of teardrops. To create the pineapple, get a large yellow tee shirt and yellow paint or felt. If you want, you can add a pair of leggings to these costumes.
Bubblegum machine: Who doesn’t love bubblegum from a bubblegum machine? This costume is cute and easy to make. All you need to make this is to cover a tank top/t-shirt in different color pom poms, add a red skirt, and wear red shoes. You can also add a silver 25 cents sign and a matching headband.
Dory & Nemo: To create Nemo, purchase an orange tee shirt and glue two white stripes made out of felt onto the shirt. Make the tutu by getting orange and white tulle. To turn yourself into Dory, get a dark blue shirt and dark blue tulle to make the tutu. Cut a yellow strip out of ribbon to put in the tutu.
Biker: “Bad to the bone” For this costume, you’re going to want to pull out your leather jacket and leather pants (or just black jeans because who actually owns a pair of leather pants?). Along with those two items, you will need a plain white tee shirt, a bandanna, and black combat boots. If you really want to go all out, you can cover your arms in those rad temporary tattoos.
M&M’s: Who wouldn’t want to dress up as their favorite Halloween candy? To be a M&M, get a tee shirt of the color M&M you want to be. Use white felt to cut out the “m” and glue it to the shirt. To complete the look, wear black leggings and white silky gloves.
Superheroes: Calling all superheroes: Batman, Superman, and Captain America! To create this costume, you need to find a cheap superhero shirt of your choice or create the shirt using iron ons or felt. To add to this costume, you can make a cape and a tutu that matches your superhero colors. After putting all these things together you’re ready to save the world!
Football Player: Touchdown! To turn yourself into a football player, all you need is to find an old football jersey and football helmet. Wear some leggings and cleats to go with it. If you’re feeling it, put some black face paint under your eyes to complete the look.
Olaf: To turn yourself into the most loved character on Frozen, get a white tee shirt and white tulle for the tutu. Buy a white hat or beanie and black and orange felt to make Olaf’s face. Make his nose by curling the orange felt into a carrot and super gluing it together onto the hat. With the leftover black felt, cut out circles for his buttons.
Ghost: If none of these costumes are working out for you, you can always find a white sheet and cut some eye holes in it just like Charlie Brown!
Happy Halloween!
