Andrew Aspires To Be A Rapper
Students playing in bands is not an unheard of hobby at Tunstall High School. Many of these bands have played gigs and even have music available for poeple to purchase. Sophomore Andew Johnson has the same goals set, but instead with his rap music.
“My friends made me want to form a group…and I want to make money,” said Andrew.
Tunstall’s Dakota Garcia, Andrew, and Dan River’s Patrick Wyatt are the members of the currently unnamed rap group. Though the group’s name is undecided, they are already working on producing mixtapes. Andrew believes that there will be CDs for the public to buy in the near future.
Other than mixtapes being made, Andrew has plans to turn his hobby of rapping with his friends into a career. Over the summer, Andrew and Patrick plan on moving to California to attempt to get a record deal. Well known rappers such as Kendrick Lamar and Drake inspired Andrew to make rapping his profession and not just his favorite pastime.
Making mixtapes and working on record deals while also applying himself may seem stressful, but Andrew says, “My ambition to rap and make money get me through the day.”
If his rapping career does not work out, Andrew would settle for being a forensic analyst or a nurse anaesthetist. However, Andrew plans on putting his rapping career above all else.
