Wallace moves on; XC competes in Regional Tournament
Nine THS girls competed in the VHSL 3A West Regional Tournament in Lexington, VA on Tuesday. Sophomore Emily Wallace placed high enough to move onto states. Wallace came in 29th out of 103 runners; she had a PR of 20:49.79 . In order for her to be locked in, she had to finish 30th or better. Wallace will be competing in the VHSL state meet in The Plains, VA.
“I was surprised,” said Wallace “I never thought I would have made it. I just kept running.”
Wallace also mentioned that she thought she wouldn’t have made it this far.
In an extremely competitive field largely dominated by Blacksburg High, Gwen Kallam finished 70th with an time of 23:04.85 and Alissa Hill finished 79th and had a time of 23:46.37. Tyler Goad finished 86th and Lia Haskins finished just behind Goad in 89th. Goad had a time of 24:20.51 and Haskins finished with 24:33.73. Hannah Hale finished 93rd and Durand finished 101st.
Two Trojans competed in the boys division. Luke Vest placed 66th with a time of 18:43.04 while Zach Gray placed 83rd and had a time of 19:21.16.
