Divergent Review
The greatly anticipated Divergent movie based on the worldwide bestselling book by Veronica Roth will finally be hitting theaters on March 21, 2014.
Fans who fell in love with the book have been anxiously waiting for the movie to come out in theaters, luckily for them the wait is almost over. Veronica Roth’s dystopian novel, Divergent, quickly became a hit.
Divergent is a dystopian novel set in a future in which society is split into five different groups of people, or factions. The children in the society grow up in the faction of their parents until they are eighteen. Then they have a choice to make that can change their lives forever: to stay in their parents’ factions, or to move to a different faction by themselves. Of course, before they make their decision, they take a test that shows what faction they are most compatible with.
The main character of this novel is a strong, independent girl named Beatrice Prior. Beatrice, who later shortens her name to Tris, is different than most. She has many talents and skills and is compatible with more than one faction. This is a very unusual case in her society and she must keep quiet about it.
Throughout the story, readers follow Tris through her journey of finding out who she is, why she is different, and what her true purpose is. Divergent is a spectacular novel, Veronica Roth did excellent in writing this novel. Any readers that enjoy reading futuristic books set in a dystopia, must read Divergent.
