Maddie’s Last Year of Soccer
The soccer season is coming up and conditioning for it has already begun. This year of soccer is the first for freshmen, but also the last for the senior players, like Maddie Hughes.
Many of the seniors on the girls’ soccer team have been playing soccer since freshman year and even before that, including senior Maddie Hughes. Maddie enjoys playing soccer outside of school and has played for Tunstall High School since her freshmen year, so having to say goodbye is difficult for her.
“It’s bittersweet having to leave…..yeah it sucks,” said Maddie describing her feelings towards her last year of playing soccer for Tunstall High School.
Last year, the Lady Trojan’s soccer team came in second at districts. However, Maddie has high hopes for the team this year with freshmen bringing in new talent and the seniors with their acquired skills from years of playing.
“We have a lot more seniors this year and more talent; we’ll be good,” said Maddie.
Maddie Hughes is not too worried about tryouts and is going into this season of soccer with confidence. Since it is her senior year, she wants the team to achieve more than they have ever before.
