Taking a step towards safety
To be in compliance with newly imposed Virginia regulations on teacher recertification, each teacher must recertify in CPR, AED, and other basic First Aid and emergency life saving techniques before getting the stamp of approval from the state.
JROTC’s Colonel David King has stepped up and begun holding classes for the teachers to meet the new requirements.
“My intent is to get as many people as possible to know how to save lives,” said King.
Holding the classes at Tunstall allows teachers train in a comfortable environment with their peers instead of traveling to receive instruction.
This class is just one of the many steps teachers must go through to be eligible for recertification every five years, but also a necessity to insure they remain up to date and comfortable with the ever changing protocols associated with CPR and other emergency first aid procedures.
