Trojans lose in blowout to Eagles
In recent weeks, Tunstall has been becoming more familiar with blowout games; but on the unfortunate side of those games. In the last 10 games, the Trojans are only 2-8; with wins coming from Magna Vista and Gretna. Four of those games resulted in the opposing team who won 25 points or more; the other two games were won by 35 points or more. Last Friday night, they suffered another blowout when they lost to the GW eagles 84-48.
Tunstall’s turnover problem continued to escalated throughout the night. Overall, the Trojans had a total of 24 turnovers; six more from their previous game against Martinsville. In addition, the Eagles scored a little over half off their turnovers. Leading the team in turnovers was Luke Buckner with seven. Myles Pyrtle and Grayson Elliot each had five; Tevion Terry had three.
Two factors that could have led to their loss was their free throw shooting and shooting behind the arch. Tunstall was only two for 14 from the three point line; Elliot and Ben Donahue each made one. The Trojans also had difficult at the charity stripe; going six for 14. Jalen Moore was the only player that made all of Tunstall’s free throws.
Despite the loss, Buckner stuffed the stat sheet well. The 6’4 senior forward lead the team with three steals and five assists. He also had eight points and rebounds; including one block.
Leading the team in points was Moore with 12. Buckner and Anthony Thomas had eight; Donahue and Elliot each had five points. Harris had four points. Terry, Pyrtle and Kyle Bailey each had two points.
Thomas led the team with two blocks and Terry had one. Others that contributed to rebounding was Donahue with five. Terry had four while DeMario Harris and Moore each had three. Lovelace and Thomas each had two.
