Placing all of our Ducks in a row
As the temperature starts to decrease, we all start to see an increase in the biggest winter fashion trend, the Duck Boot.
Otherwise known as the Bean boot, the boot was first introduced in 1911 by manufacturer L.L. Bean. Since then, the boots were an instant success. Leon Leonwood Bean first came up with the idea for the boots after venturing on a hike and having his feet constantly wet. He combined the rubber soles of rain boots with leather uppers. The L.L. Bean Company was formed in 1912 to market and sell the already popular boots.
Since then, the boots became more and more popular.
Although their main purpose is to combat the harsh weather, almost everywhere you look you can spot a pair on just about anyone at anytime. Whether it be rain, snow, or just a chilly morning, Duck boots are bound to appear somewhere.
Throughout our own halls, there isn’t a day that goes by that we don’t notice a pair of these fashionable boots. They go with just about anything; a cute flannel, an oversized sweater, or even a college sweatshirt. These boots can either be dressed up or dressed down, depending on the day.
These also seem to be a symbol of the passage of time; when it starts to get colder, the boots start to slowly make their way into the halls of THS. Students await the first chilly day to bust out the Bean Boots for the start of the winter weather.
Since the weather here has been below freezing some mornings, it seems to be a no brainer.
And it isn’t just students who wear the boots. Teachers, parents, and even some grandparents have decided to jump on the bandwagon as well. And of course these boots aren’t just in the local area, people all around the country have a pair of these long lasting boots.
Duck Boots are for everyone of all ages and seem to never go out of style. While some wear them on snow days or super rainy days, others wear them just to keep up on the trend.
With the warmer months approaching, the Duck boots will have to survive another three months of summer in our closets until the next year arrives.
