Tips and Tricks to Save Money for Prom

It’s easy to spend a lot of cash on the big night, but there are numerous ways to save money when planning prom.

1. Dresses and tuxes. Consignment shops, stores such as Marshall’s and Ross, and borrowing from a friend are all great options to save a lot of money on attire. Also, many nice dresses can be purchased on Etsy for a much cheaper price.

2. Shoes. Chances are, a close friend or relative has attended a formal in the past and has shoes to lend. Plus, shoes don’t matter as much due to the fact that they are covered up or taken off at prom.

3. Hair and make-up. Look up ideas on websites, such as Pinterest or Google, then find a family friend or relative to make it happen. Simple hair ideas would be curls or a bun, and for make-up, less is more so there is no need to “pile it on.”

4. Nails. White tips can be painted easily with a nail pen, bought from Target or any local drug store.

5. Dinner. Instead of going out for an expensive restaurant experience, get together with a couple of friends and organize a nice, home-cooked meal. Also, keep in mind not to eat too much because there will be a plethora of appetizers available at prom.
